I'm not talking about the 1980's pop band of the same name, I'm talking about this weekends riding...it was super fun in beautiful conditions.
Saturday morning was the Mechanics Bay bunch and it started raining hard as I rolled up the drive and got worse as the ride went on, it was also pretty windy down on the waterfront which made riding in bunch formation rather interesting. I did almost turn around 3 times in the first 30mins and head home but each time I got talking to someone different which took the mind of the rain. There were only about 15 on the ride which did make it a fair bit safer than the usual 100+ which was a nice change. 100km's on the clock so not the worst for a pretty awful day in the saddle.
Sunday was supposed to be a ride out the the Albany bunch and back which would normally take all morning but I wasn't too optimistic about making it out there as again it was throwing it down. So i Soldiered out the house at 4.30 rugged up to brave the conditions I spent the whole hour on the way to the bike path praying that no one else would be stupid enough to be meeting there. Alas, after waiting 10minutes and seeing no one, in fact not seeing much as the rain was pretty heavy, i decided to head home and jump back into bed. So i managed a pretty weak 2 hours, but I did get a bonus 3 hours sleep mid morning.
I did go into Bike360 on Saturday and picked up my new bike, a Genius Squadra with SRAM Force...mint! I got all set up on it and changed a few things around....cheers chickenman and gordy, and am now all set to go. If this rain pisses off i may even get to ride it sometime soon.
