It was the possibility of being the final tank farm crit ever and the fact that I had some bling new Genius kit that I decided to venture down after work and number up. I had been seriously thinking of giving it a miss as I had been struggling with a head cold all week and really didn't want it moving to my chest...I have had enough of that shit recently to last a life time.
Right of the line 6 guys went away and that was the race, even though the first move normally never sticks this one had everyone in it, but i had missed it. So a few of use tried jumping it but it was never going to work and I was really struggling, it felt like I was breathing through a straw which wasn't fun.
Towards the end of the race it looked like the leaders might get close to getting a lap up on us, its never happened down there before and something I wasn't too keep on seeing happen to be honest, so a group of 5 of us buggered off up the road in the hope of picking up the speed which had really dropped of as everyone lost interest.
Our little move got caught with 500m to go but managed to hold position and get second in the bunch kick and 6th on the day. The leaders never got to the back of the bunch but was the closest I think anyone has got, and for that reason alone I think another series is a must next summer....here's hoping.
